The New Year of 2009

Hi, I hope all is going well on this wonderful break we have. I hope you have been enjoying the time and maybe even all the snow. I look forward to seeing everybody again at the beginning of the new year and we will get right back into learning and working. School will start again on January 5. I hope you enjoy the rest of your break and I will see you all bundled up on Monday morning.

Oh, the Days of December

The month of December was so super busy and full of fun activities and learning. This is just a couple of the things that we did.
Book Reports
Wow! We did an awesome job on all our book reports. They were really not like any other book reports. Miss Fuhriman was so proud and everybody did a fantastic job. We also loved sharing them. Some students let us play the games they created and we even got to try some sushi. Some of us made T-shirts or posters or diagrams or even games. It was great and now we're excited to read some different books.

Gingerbread Houses
We were so lucky because we were able to do gingerbread houses twice. We helped our kindergarten buddies design and create some pretty amazing houses and then only 4 days later we really put our skills and talents to work. Basically, we created some of the most creative and innovative gingerbread houses ever. It was fun, we got sticky and ate lots of candy.

We also spent 12 days celebrating the 12 days of Christmas as we used math to figure out how much money the man spent on his true love. It came out around 60, ooo dollars. That is a lot of love and we decided that we rather have the money than all those birds and entertainers running around our house.
Then to top of the entire month we sang and danced in front of the whole school. It was great. We really performed and everybody loved it 'cause we "had our love to keep us warm."
What a fun month! We are excited for the new year and to get back to school and keep learning.

Yay for Music!

We love learning how to play the recorders. We know that you are so happy that we are learning them, too, especially when we practice at home.

Halloween

We really had a fun time dressing up. Some of our costumes were really great. Our class party was so fun! Thanks to all those hard working room moms. Thanks! We were covered in spiders and had to do our best scary faces and then we also got to touch brains and eyeballs in our Halloween laboratory. It was gross! Then we made a cool little bookmark and then had a race to see who was faster while carrying a spoon full of candy corn. It was great fun and we loved the parade and being able to see all the other neat and creative costumes.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parents get excited because Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up so don't forget to sign up. Go to the Sunrise web site and click on the Online Scheduler and make an appointment. I have really been enjoying your students and look forward to meeting with each of you.

An A-MAZE-ing Fieldtrip

Wow, did we have lots of fun! What a busy day! We all had the opportunity to weave in and out of corn as we tried to find our way through the corn maze. We had to answer questions to find the right way out. Some of us did get lost but no worries we all made it out okay.

Here we are enjoying the weird sensation of playing in a shed full of corn kernals. Hey, we even tried burying each other!

Then there was this huge colorful jumping pillow that was like an extreme trampoline. It was time to go jumping. Look at how high we are getting! Some of us
even needed to stop and take a rest!

We also got ready to learn about rocks and minerals as we sifted through the sand and water to find gems and minerals.

Wait, there's more! We went on a hayride and stopped off at a pumpkin patch and got to choose our own pumpkin. The only rule was we had to be able to carry it by ourselves! Some of us really tried to get the biggest we could, even if we did have to carry it with our jac
kets or walk funny! Some of us just liked the different ones. It was a fun-filled day and it sure did wear us out! When we got back to school, all we wanted to do was take a nap!

We love learning all about UTAH!

We are using pictures to tell a story just like the Indians used to do.

We love learning about the pioneers. This is how they used to dress. Yipee!

We're going on a fieldtrip!

On Oct. 22, the fourth grade will be going on a fieldtrip to Thanksgiving Point. We will be going to Cornbelly's Corn Maze and will learn all about the agricultural in Utah. We will also learn how soil helps plants grow. It will be fun to go and explore the outdoors while learning. We even get to go and walk through a pumpkin patch. We can't wait! Go check out what we will see and do: cornbelly's
